YOUTH CONNECTIONS DIVISIONS

EMPLOYMENT

Youth Connections’ employment team provides local youth and jobseekers with opportunities to take up apprenticeships with employers and engage in community-based work projects. In both instances the goals are to build skills and improved knowledge, equipping the participants to better enter the workforce.

GROUP TRAINING ORGANISATION

The COVID-19 pandemic has proven challenging in the GTO arena, directly impacting new apprentices, potential applicants and employers together. This meant focusing on the existing apprentices, communicating with employers as government initiatives presented opportunities and ensuring the mental, physical and education needs of our current apprentices were met to the best of our teams abilities.

Youth Connections’ Group Training Organisation specialises in the recruitment and employment of quality apprentices and trainees. We pride ourselves on connecting jobseekers with local employers who can support their trade education.

Since its inception 12 years ago we have built an extensive network, connecting employers and jobseekers across NSW.

WORK FOR THE DOLE

The Work for the Dole (WFD) service develops collaborative partnerships to inspire and equip jobseekers for employment. It provides skill development and work experience opportunities that replicate industry standards, so jobseekers are genuinely prepared for the demands of work.

We connect jobseekers with organisations who can benefit from their contribution to real world, hands on projects. Every activity we manage is based on mutual benefit, community impact and social and economic inclusion for all.

The 2019-20 financial year was particularly difficult for the WFD team. From the worst bush fire season in recent memory to the COVID-19 pandemic, normal processes needed to change to meet the new work environment. This impact meant projects were put on hold to ensure that participants and employees could be kept safe.

While this hold was in effect, communication and relationship building continued, translating into a stronger reemergence of the WFD team going into the next financial year.
