SKILLS CENTRES

The Youth Connections Skills Centres have been designed to provide a work place like environment where our additional needs participants can develop skills around hands on experience in a range of trades.

This enables the participant to develop hands on, technical skills, while building confidence and coordination of multiple project elements to produce a tactile end result.

The concept for the Skills Centres was developed as a remote learning program for participants who were in lock down at home during COVID-19 restrictions. This would keep them engaged with Youth Connections staff and programs, while remaining safer at home, avoiding contact risks.

Its success and great interest from participants ensured its development into a full program, operating from a main workshop at Tuggerah, and with an additional micro workshop at Kariong.
